Larry G. West

Larry G. West, 76, of Cross Plains, IN, passed away at Swiss Villa Nursing and Rehab in Vevay, IN on Monday, April 17, 2023. He was a lifetime resident of Ripley County growing up on a farm on State Road 62 between Cross Plains and Friendship. He was graduated from Cross Plains High School in 1964. Larry was a collector of classic and vintage automobiles. He attended car show events and won many trophies and awards for his restored vehicles, including a 1957 Chevy and a 1967 Chevelle SS. Larry had worked as a bartender/cook at the Dillsboro Legion. Larry was a member of the Millwright Local 1066 and was retired from Fernald in 2004. His memberships include: the Dillsboro American Legion, Post 292, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 2022 of Aurora, and the Indiana Freemasons, Hopewell Lodge No. 80. Larry is survived by his daughter, Lesley Allen (Zachery), grandchildren, Kylie West, and Colton and Lucas Allen of Greendale, IN, his sister, Shirley Mingee and nephew, Kevin Burkett of Bloomington, IN. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy West. Larry will be missed by his many friends who enjoyed his company and humor. Visitation will be held at Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles, IN on Friday, April 21, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with funeral services following the visitation.
