Laura Lucille Schlotman, 90, of Versailles passed away Friday, May 27, 2005 at her residence. She was born in Otter Creek Township on February 27, 1915 the daughter of Elbridge and Erma Pratt Hammon. She was married to Brent Schlotman and he preceded her in death on September 18, 1979. Survivors include one daughter Doris M. Lewis and her husband Bill of Versailles; grandsons Bryan Schlotman of Holton and Greg Schlotman of Fairland along with two great-grandchildren; two brothers John Hammon of Cincinnati and Frank Hammon of Republic, Missouri; one sister Dorothy Kimball of Holton. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brothers Norman Hammon and Rufus Hammon and her sisters Blanche Ross, Maebeth DeBurger, June Hansen, Dolores Hammon and Edith Hammon, one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.
Mrs. Schlotman was a 1934 graduate of Holton High School and a 1966 graduate of Indiana University. She taught school for several years in the Holton, Milan, and Moores Hill school systems. She was a member of the Versailles Baptist Church and the Riley Cheer Guild. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 31 at 11am at the Versailles Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Walker and Rev. Charles Cole officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9am until time of services at the church. The Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home of Versailles is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be given to the Versailles Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
