Lawrence (Bud) Smith

Lawrence (Bud) Smith, 77, of Osgood passed away Monday, October 22, 2012 at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. He was born at Freeport in Shelby County on January 28, 1935 the son of Raymond and Leona Myer Smith. He was married to Valerie Brewington on August 6, 1965 and she preceded him in death on June 29, 2006. Survivors include two sons Larry (Debbi) Smith of Holton and Scott (Denise) Smith of Sunman; three daughters Sheryl Smith of Las Vegas, and Sherry (David) Smith-Wunar and Sheila Smith both of Chicago; 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; one sister Zella Wyatt of Greensburg; one brother Robert (Clara) Smith of Holton. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Evelyn Comer. Mr. Smith attended Holton High School and was a 65 year member of the Hopewell Baptist Church. Lawrence was a farmer and had worked with the Batesville Furniture Factory and was employed for 45 years with Bonn Aluminum in Greensburg. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 25 at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Charles Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Hopewell Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 9am until time of services. Memorials may be given to the Hopewell Baptist Church or the Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home.
