Lee Phillips, 77, of Versailles
passed away Thursday, June 11, 2009 at his home. He was born near Friendship on
October 18, 1931 the son of Leroy and Bernice Thornton Phillips. He was married
to Wanda Rose on October 18, 1952 and she survives. Other survivors include
three daughters, Marcia (Pete) Holcomb of Versailles, Bennilee Westmeier of
Nineveh, and Sandra (Lynn) Works of Bennington; 10 grandchildren and 7
great-grandchildren; one sister Fleeta Smith of Versailles. He was preceded in
death by his parents and his granddaughter Clarissa Westmeier. Mr. Phillips was
a self-employed truck driver. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of
the Versailles American Legion. Funeral services will be held Monday, June
at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles
with Rev. Sherman Hughes of the Bear Creek Baptist Church at Friendship
officiating. Burial will be in the Olive Branch Cemetery near Fairview.
Visitation will be Sunday from 5pm to 8pm. Memorials may be given to the donors
choice.
