**Leon Cole**, 67, of Versailles passed away Thursday, May 8, 2008 at his home. He was born at Osgood on January 28, 1941 the son of Lawrence and Ruth Hardebeck Cole. Survivors include his mother Mrs. Ruth Cole of Holton; two sons, Dwayne (Marci) Cole of Hanover, Joe (Saradee) Cole of Versailles; two daughters, Michelle (Rodney) Sellers and Katrina (Jerry) Keck both of Versailles; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one brother Lanny (Carolyn) Cole of Canaan; two sisters, Ruth (Phillip) Meisberger of New Marion and Judy (Omer) Powers of Holton. He was preceded in death by his father. Mr. Cole was a 1959 graduate of New Marion High School. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the 5 Engineering Batallion. Mr. Cole was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Sharpshooter Badge. He was a self-employed timber buyer and had worked for Tru-Temper in North Vernon. He was a member of the Milan American Legion. Funeral services will be held Monday, May at 1pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial will be in the Indiana Veterans Cemetery in Madison. Visitation will be Sunday from 4pm to 7pm. Memorials may be given to the Milan American Legion in care of the funeral home.
