Leroy T. May, 83, of Versailles passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at the Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison. He was born near Versailles on January 27, 1923 the son of William and Alta Tunks May. He was married to Dorothy Swinney on November 1, 1943 and she survives. Other survivors include two sons, Gene May and his wife Linda of Versailles and Don May and his wife Cathy of Osgood; son-in-law Reed Back of Versailles; grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Estol May of Duncanville, Texas, Russell May of Hanover, and Earl May of Rexville; three sisters, Lora Swinney of Versailles, Lila Ziegler of Greensburg, and Evelyn Meek of Madison. He was preceded in death by his daughter Barbara Back, his parents, and his brother Stanley May. Mr. May was a farmer and a former employee of the Indiana State Highway and also for Cord's Stone Quarry. He also was a self-employed trucker and operated under the cb handle "sand man." Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 20 at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Daniel May and Rev. Tony Alstott officiating. Burial will be in the New Marion Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5pm to 8pm. Memorials may be given to the New Marion Cemetery or the donor's choice.
