Lois Parker, 86, of Indianapolis, formerly of Versailles, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at the Morristown Manor in Morristown. She was born at Elmira, Illinois on August 19, 1917 the daughter of Charles and Marian Grieve Welch. She was married to Robert Parker on August 2, 1941 and he preceded her in death on March 15, 1988. She was a 1935 graduate of Kewanee High School in Kewanee, Illinois and graduated from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois in 1939 with a Bachelors degree in business.
She was a homemaker and had worked as a secretary at the Southeastern Career Center in Versailles from 1967 to 1983. She was a member of the Tyson United Methodist Church in Versailles and was a life member of the Versailles American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include three sons; Richard Parker and his wife Linda of Morristown, Jack Parker and Theresa of Versailles, and William Parker of Indianapolis; three daughters, Ellen Bloomer and her husband Morris of New Palestine, Mary Key and Ronald of Springfield, Ohio, and Peggy Steckbeck and Tom of Indianapolis; eleven grandchildren and one sister, Charlotte Wilkinson of Wyoming, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 17 at 11am at the Tyson United Methodist Church in Versailles with Rev. Mike Hendrix officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery at Versailles. Visitation will be held Friday, April 16 from 4pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Legion Auxiliary services at 7:30pm. Memorials may be given to the Robert and Lois Parker Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home at box 84, Versailles, Indiana 47042.
