Louis G. Stegemoller

Louis G. Stegemoller, 87, of Olean passed away Monday, February 28, 2011 at the Waters of Dillsboro Manor. He was born near Olean on April 4, 1923 the son of George and Laura Fisse Stegemoller. He was married to Eunice Stamper Hughes on December 29, 1990 and she preceded him in death on April 27, 2009. Survivors include step-children Vesta Ryan and Rev. Sherman (Muriel) Hughes both of Dillsboro and Charles Hughes of Westville; one brother Harold (Bea) Stegemoller of Versailles, sister-in-law Ethel Stegemoller of Versailles; 9 step-grandchildren, 16 step-great grandchildren, and 4 step-great-great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, step-son George Hughes, his brother Henry Stegemoller, sisters Miriam Obendorf and Lucille Merritt, and his niece Christine Merritt. Mr. Stegemoller was a 1942 graduate of Cross Plains High School. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Olean and attended the Bear Creek Baptist Church in Friendship. Louie owned and operated Stegemoller Electric in Friendship for 53 years. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 4 at 11am at the Bear Creek Baptist Church in Friendship with Pastor James Culver of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and Rev. Sherman Hughes of the Bear Creek Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery at Olean. Visitation will be Thursday from 5pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10am until time of services Friday at the church. Memorials may be given to Child Evangelism Fellowship or St. Peter's Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
