Luella Hicks, 88, of Napoleon
passed away Tuesday February 17, 2004 at the Decatur Memorial Hospital in
Greensburg. She was born near Holton on January 1, 1916 the daughter of Gilbert
and Goldah Salyers Winters. She was married to Vern Hicks on July 19, 1934
and he preceded her in death in 1999. Mrs.
Hicks was a member of the St. Maurice Catholic Church in Napoleon. She was a
former custodian in the Jac-Cen-Del and Napoleon school systems and had worked
at Knueven's and Griner's Grocery stores in Napoleon. Survivors include one son,
Donald Hicks and his wife Pat of Napoleon; two grandsons, Brad Hicks and Bart
Hicks both of Napoleon along with seven great-grandchildren. Besides her husband
she was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Otis and Clifford
Winters. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, February 20
10am at the St. Maurice Catholic Church in Napoleon with Fr. Larry Borders of
St. Maurice and Pastor Gary Groth of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Napoleon
officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Napoleon.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 19
from 5pm to 8pm at the
Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorials may be given to the
Napoleon Central House or the St. Maurice Catholic Church in care of the funeral
home.
