Lura Lykins, 90, of Osgood
passed away Friday, April 29, 2011 at the Manderley Health Care Center in
Osgood. She was born at Salyersville in Magoffin County, Kentucky on April 28,
1921 the daughter of James and Carrie Ann Taulbee Wages. She was married to
Willard Lykins on November 29, 1941 and he preceded her in death on May 22,
1996. Survivors include one son Willard A. (Janet) Lykins of Osgood; four
grandsons; 2 great-grandchildren; one sister Marie Gregory of Osgood. She was
preceded in death by her parents, her brother Floyd Wages, and her sisters Dee
Keeton, Lilly Wages, and Telia Brown. Mrs. Lykins was a 1939 graduate of Hazel
Green High School in Hazel Green, Kentucky and was a member of the Cedar Creek
Community Church. She was a homemaker and had done evangelistic work with her
husband for several years. Funeral services will be held Monday, May
at 10:30am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles
with Rev. Garland Rudd officiating. Burial will be in the Grandview Memorial
Garden near Madison. Visitation will be Sunday from 2pm to 4pm. Memorials may be
given to the Kidney Foundation or the Cedar Creek Church in care of the funeral
home.
