Mabel G. Sexton, 86, of Versailles passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. She was born at New Marion on November 9, 1920 the daughter of Rufus and Lillie Mae Brown Myers. She was married to Noah Sexton on August 20, 1938 and he preceded her in death on March 21, 1973.
She is survived by two sons, Noah Sexton and his wife Charlotte, and John Sexton all of Versailles; one daughter Mary Martinez of Las Vegas; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brothers Charles Myers of Osgood, Russell Myers of Evansville, and David Myers of Greenwood; sisters Nettie Grigsby of Versailles and Rosie Burress of New Marion. She was also preceded in death by her parents, daughter-in-law Janet Sexton, son-in-law Joe Martinez, sisters Leah Swinney, Betty Kieffer, and Mary Jo Lauber.
Mrs. Sexton was a member of the Shelby Christian Church and the Versailles American Legion Auxiliary. She was also active in senior centers in Versailles, North Vernon, and Madison. She was retired from Seagram's and had traveled extensively, visiting 46 of the 50 states.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 31 at 2pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Minister Randy Thieman and Bro. Seth Adamson officiating. Burial will be in the New Marion Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 4pm to 7pm. Memorials may be given to the New Marion Cemetery.
