Madeline B. Lauber, 94, of the Hopewell community passed away Sunday May 15, 2005 at the Jennings St. Vincent Hospital in North Vernon. She was born at Allen's Crossing near Osgood on April 6, 1912 the daughter of John and Hazel Sheets Daugherty. She was married to Dennis Lauber and he preceded her in death in 1988. Survivors include one son Denver Lauber and his wife Betty of the Hopewell community; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, her son Merlin Lauber, her sister Sylvestine Howard, and her brothers Howard and Robert Daugherty.
Mrs. Lauber was a 1929 graduate of Holton High School and was a 75 year member of the Hopewell Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and farmed with her husband. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 19 at 11am at the Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. David Shivers officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 18 from 5pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorials may be given to the Hopewell Building Fund in care of the funeral home.
