Margaret E. Clayton

**Margaret E. Clayton, 79, of Holton** passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at the Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison. She was born at Versailles on April 5, 1925 the daughter of Roy and Bernice Ruth Brown Lockridge. She was married to Cecil Clayton on January 30, 1948 and he preceded her in death on December 26, 1975. Survivors include four sons, Paul Clayton and his wife Sandy, William Clayton, Joseph Clayton and his wife Vickie all of Holton, and Timothy Clayton and Kathy of Commiskey; two daughters, Barbara Hall and her husband James of Holton and Ruth Hill and Clarence of Versailles; eighteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren; three half-brothers, David Hallgarth of Lubbock, Texas, Jack Hallgarth of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Durwin Hallgarth of Hanover; two half-sisters, Norma Brown of Indianapolis and Dorothy Furnish of Madison. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Josie Clayton and grandson Andrew Hill. Mrs. Clayton was a 1943 graduate of Versailles High School and had worked as a cook at New Marion High School. She was a member of the Holton Christian Church and retired from Muscatatuck after 25 years as a QMA. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 20 at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Robert McCreary of the Holton Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in the New Marion Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, August 19 from 5pm to 8pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Holton Christian Church or the New Marion Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
