**Margaret E. Maxwell**, 97, of Greensburg passed away Monday, at the Heritage House in Greensburg. She was born in Covington, Kentucky on May 9, 1915 the daughter of James and Martha Huffman Culbertson. She was married to George Maxwell on March 29, 1944 and he preceded her in death on January 30, 1981. Survivors include one son Richard Maxwell of Greensburg; two daughters Martha Jane (Jon K.) Hanley of South Bend and Melanie Maxwell of Greensburg; 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her granddaughter Nikkie Knecht, her sister Anna Mae Waldo, and her brother Robert Culbertson.
Mrs. Maxwell was a 1934 graduate of Versailles High School. She was a homemaker and had worked as a seamstress for Minears in Greensburg. She was a member of the Greensburg United Methodist Church and the Evening Bells Home Economics Club in Greensburg. As a hobby, Margaret had crocheted over 350 hats for newborn babies in the Decatur Memorial Hospital in Greensburg.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 16 at 2pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Susan Bunting of the Greensburg United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Benham Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 12pm until time of services. Memorials may be given to the Greensburg Meals on Wheels or the Memorial Foundation of the Decatur Memorial Hospital in care of the funeral home.
