Martha L. Brooks

Martha L. Brooks, 68, of North Vernon passed away Saturday, January 8, 2005 at the Columbus Regional Hospital. She was born at Hanover on March 7, 1936 the daughter of Albert and Reona Watson. She was married to Edward Brooks on September 25, 1954 and he preceded her in death on February 18, 1979. Survivors include two sons, Gary Brooks and his wife Cindy, Randal Brooks and his wife Brenda all of Versailles; one daughter Patti Brooks of Versailles; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one sister, Inez Mitchum of Houston, Texas. Mrs. Brooks had worked at Ohio Rod in Versailles and had retired from the dietary department of the Muscatatuck State Developmental Center. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 12 at 1pm at the Benham United Methodist Church with Jerry Brooks and Rev. Phil Meyer officiating. Burial will be in the Benham Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 11 from 6pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorials may be given to the Jennings County Humane Society or the American Bible Society in care of the funeral home.
