Martha J. Smith, 70, of Ingalls
passed away Saturday, February 18, 2012
at her home. She was born at Noble in Breathitt County, Kentucky on January 7,
1942 the daughter of Henry and Sally Hadix Lovins. She was married to Ralph
Smith on March 16, 1960 and he preceded her in death on July 28, 2009. Survivors
include two sons Robert (Tina) Smith of London, Ohio and Ricky (Margaret) Smith
of Ingalls; son-in-law Randy Buhrmester of Crawfordsville; 9 grandchildren and 8
great-grandchildren; one brother Jim (Malena) Lovins of Milan; five sisters
Geneva (Gary) Napier of Madison, Harriet (Howard) Cleeter of Lawrenceburg, Jean
(Gilbert) Wilson of New Marion, Juanita Yeomans of Versailles, and Dottie
(Bobby) Wood of Cross Plains. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her
daughter Michele Buhrmester, grandson Richard Lee Johns, and her brothers
Charles, John, and Kenneth Lovins. Mrs. Smith was a member of the New Marion
Baptist Church and along with her husband owned and operated R & M Transport
in Ingalls. She was also a member of the Pendleton Amvets, the Marysville, Ohio
VFW, and was a life member of the Noblesville American Legion Auxiliary. Funeral
services will be held Tuesday, February 21
at 2pm at the
Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Sherman Hughes of the
Bear Creek Baptist Church in Friendship officiating. Burial will be in the New
Marion Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12pm until time of services.
Memorials may be given to the New Marion Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
