Mary E. Beach

December 9, 1921 — March 17, 1986

Mary E. Beach, 81, of Louisville passed away Monday at the Baptist Hospital East in Louisville. She was born at Cincinnati on December 9, 1921, the daughter of William and Fannie Carr Nuckles. She was married to James Leslie Beach on April 17, 1946 and he preceded her in death on March 17, 1986. Mrs. Beach was raised in the Holton area. She is survived by her son Ronald Beach of Evansville, her daughter Beverly Moore and her husband James of Louisville; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law Sam and Velma Stickelman of Holton and her niece Cynthia Stickelman Melton of Holton. Mrs. Beach was an Army veteran of WWII and served in the WAC as a weather observer. She was awarded the Bronze Star for her participation in the Battle of the Rhineland and the Battle of the Bulge. She was also awarded the American Freedom, Good Conduct, American Campaign, Womans Army Corps, and the WWII Victory medal. Funeral services will be held Thursday January 30 at 11am at the Stratton Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Visitation will be Wednesday January 29 from 6pm to 8pm. Burial will be in the Holton Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Napoleon VFW. Memorials may be given to the Holton Cemetery.
