Mary Delay Begenwald,
88, of Versailles
passed away Wednesday,
March 4, 2015 at Ross Manor in Dillsboro. She was born at Hazard
in Perry
County, Kentucky on September 13, 1926 the daughter of Eugene
and Nellie Deaton
Gray. She was married to Roy Delay on January 18, 1946 and he
preceded her in
death on January 14, 1971. She was later married to William
"Bud" Begenwald and
he also preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters
Sue Ricketts of
Louisville, Kentucky, and Linda (Mark) Chance of Dillsboro;
three grandchildren
Todd (Amber) Chance of Dillsboro, Traci (Ryan) Bruns of Milan,
and Jason
(Stacy) Ricketts of New Albany; 6 great-grandchildren; one
brother Kenny
(Elaine) Gray of Milan. She was also preceded in death by her
parents, four
brothers, and two sisters. Mrs. Begenwald was a 1946 graduate of
Versailles
High School. She was employed with the Delaney Wood Heel Factory
in Versailles
and retired from Conn Organ in Madison. She enjoyed traveling in
her retirement
years. Mary was a 60 year member of the Versailles Baptist
Church. Funeral
services will be held on Saturday, March 7
at 11am
at the
Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Mike
Cantrell
officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in
Versailles. Visitation
will be Saturday from 10am until time of services and memorials
may be given to
the Versailles Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
