Mary Jean Campbell

Mary Jean Campbell, 64, of South Bend passed away Saturday, September 24, 2011 at her home. She was born at Batesville on July 20, 1947 the daughter of Robert and Dorothy Wood Pettit. She was married to Grover Edward Campbell on March 5, 1971 and he survives. Other survivors include one son Matthew Campbell of South Bend; one daughter Denise (Ron) Strzelecki of South Bend; one granddaughter Emily Strzelecki; her mother and step-father Dorothy and Robert Asche of Osgood; one brother Bruce "Skip" (Betty) Pettit of Columbus; one sister Helen McNeely of Versailles. She was preceded in death by her father. Mrs. Campbell was a member of the New Marion Baptist Church and a 1965 graduate of New Marion High School. She was a homemaker and was employed with Villages of Indiana where she was a house parent for abused and neglected children. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 27 at 2pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Randy Thieman of the Shelby Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in the New Marion Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12pm until time of services. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the New Marion Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
