Mary Alice Cannon

Mary Alice Cannon, 80, of Versailles passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at The Palms in Sebring, Florida. She was born in Jennings County on January 4, 1924 the daughter of Andrew and Thena Neilis Updike. She was married to Robert Cannon on July 14, 1942 and he survives. Other survivors include one daughter Jeanie Benham and her husband Charles of Sellersburg, Indiana; two grandchildren Michelle Cannon of Indianapolis and Dusty Benham of Sellersburg and her life long friend Martha Lee Green of North Vernon. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son Michael Cannon. Mrs. Cannon was a member of the First Christian Church of North Vernon and had worked as a librarian for the Tyson Library in Versailles. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 30 at 1pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. John Scudder officiating. Visitation will be from 10am until time of services. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the donors choice. Online condolences may be made at skfuneralhome.com.
