Mary H. Cowell

Mary H. Cowell, 90, of Versailles passed away at 1am, Monday, November 21, 2022 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. She was born in New Albany on December 8, 1931, the daughter of Lloyd and Mable Keithley Harmon. She was married to Thomas R. Cowell, Sr. on October 6, 1951 and he preceded her in death on November 12, 1991. Survivors include one son Thomas "Robbie" (Ellen) Cowell, Jr. of Versailles; two daughters Durenda (Kevin) Bartley of Louisville and Lynette (Bill) Ruckman of Greenville; 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; one brother Ronnie (Sharon) Harmon of Arizona. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Carl and Jerry Harmon, and her sister Lana Jean Siltz. Mrs. Cowell was a 1949 graduate of Georgetown (Indiana) High School. She was a homemaker and had worked for 15 years as a medications aid at the Green Valley Care Center in New Albany. Mary was a member of the Kingdom Hall Jehovah's Witnesses in Aurora. Mary's wishes were to be cremated and there will be a memorial service at a later date at her church. The Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles is in charge of arrangements.
