Mary Lou Jolly, 84, of Versailles passed away at 5:45pm Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. She was born near Cross Plains on September 19, 1930 the daughter of Earl and Grace Porter Copeland.
She was married to Carl Jolly on May 29, 1954 and he preceded her in death on June 14, 1994. Survivors include two sons David (Cheryl) Jolly, and Dwight Jolly both of Versailles; two daughters Carol (Randy) Holcomb of Versailles and Janet (Terry) Icenogle of Bargersville; 7 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren with two more blessings this year; one brother Kenneth (Earline) Copeland of Versailles; two sisters Carolyn Morton of Pleasant and Nancy (Richard) Clem of Coatesville. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her granddaughter Amanda Jolly, and her brothers Robert, Francis, and Ross Copeland.
Mrs. Jolly was a 1949 graduate of Cross Plains High School. She was a former employee of the Aetna Life Insurance Company in Indianapolis and had also worked at Morton's Store in Pleasant. She also was a homemaker and loved the time she spent working on the farm with her husband. She had authored a book called "A Time of Peppermint" and was a great cook, especially known for her baked rolls.
Mary Lou was a member of the Shelby Christian Church and had served as a volunteer for the Ripley County Cancer Unit. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 22 at 11am at the Shelby Christian Church with Bro. Robert "Pete" Taylor officiating. Burial will be in the Shelby Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10am until time of services Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be given to the Shelby Cemetery or the Alzheimers Fund at Ripley Crossing in care of the funeral home.
