Mary E. Powell, 94, of Versailles passed away Saturday, January 10, 2004 at the Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison. She was born at Louisville on March 4, 1909 the daughter of Johnny and Anna Mae Cullivan Dent. She was married to Preston Powell and he preceded her in death in 1972. Mrs. Powell was a seamstress and had retired from the Methodist Hospital in Louisville after 25 years as the head cashier. She is survived by one son, Ralph Pevlor of Smyrna, Tennessee; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; one brother, William Daily and one sister, Ann Manning both of Louisville. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her sons James Pevlor, Murray Pevlor, and David Pevlor and her grandson Ronald Lee Hamilton, Jr. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, January 13 at 1pm at the Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville. Visitation will be Monday, January 12 from 5pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorials may be given to St. Jude's Children's Research or to Rescue 69.
