Mary Jessie Rea

Mary Jessie Rea, 67, of Rexville passed away Friday, January 16, 2015 at her home. She was born at Madison on June 17, 1947 the daughter of Lewis and Rosetta Turner Demaree. She was married to Lester Rea on October 3, 1970 and he survives. Other survivors include one son John (Kelly) Rea of Rexville; three granddaughters Hannah, Julia, and Elizabeth Rea. She was preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Rea was a 1965 graduate of Madison High School and was her class salutatorian. She was also a delegate to Hoosier Girls State and was named the school's DAR Good Citizen. She was employed with Conn Organ in Madison and had worked at the Jefferson Proving Ground as a teletypist in the Headquarters Building and was a secretary for weapons maintenance. Mary was also an accomplished artist. She was a member of the North Madison Christian Church and attended the Versailles Church of Christ. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 20 at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial will be in the Fairmont Cemetery in Madison. Visitation will be on Monday from 5pm to 7pm. Memorials may be given to the Versailles Church of Christ in care of the funeral home.
