Mary Jane Smith

Mary Jane Smith, 78, of Versailles passed away Saturday, November 1, 2003 at the Waters of Batesville. She was born near Benham on April 21, 1925 the daughter of Verne and Muriel Cathey McCoy. She was married to Melvin Smith on April 3, 1948 and he preceded her in death on August 13, 2003. She is survived by her son David Smith and his wife Lynne of New Castle, grandsons Steven and Robert Smith of Greenfield and her granddaughter Allison Senniger of Indianapolis along with two great-grandchildren and five sisters-in-law. She was preceded in death by her brother R. C. McCoy and her granddaughter Erin O'Neal. Mrs. Smith was a 1944 graduate of Dillsboro High School and formerly worked at the Dillsboro Health Resort and also at Thomas Fashions in Versailles along with being a homemaker. She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Olean and the Olean Willing Workers Home Ec. Club. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 4 at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Marcus Felde of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Olean officiating. Burial will be in St. Peters Cemetery in Olean. Visitation will be Monday, November 3 from 5pm to 8pm. Memorials may be given to the Dialysis Center at Batesville in care of the funeral home.
