Matthew Paul Obendorf, 31,
of Versailles
passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at the Kings Daughters
Hospital in Madison. He was born in Cincinnati on November 21, 1977 the son of
Paul and Cheryll Black Obendorf. He was married to Veronica Graver on August 20,
2005 and she survives. Other survivors include his son Benjamin Matthew Obendorf
and his daughter Lauren Catherine Obendorf
both at home; his parents Paul and Cheryll Obendorf; his father and
mother-in-law Mark and Debra Graver of Dillsboro; maternal grandmother Jessie
Schamel of Batesville; one brother John (Julie Ann) Obendorf of Versailles; two
sisters Lindsay Obendorf and Jennifer (Mark) Darnold both of Madison;
brother-in-law Jack Graver of Dillsboro. He was preceded in death by his
grandparents, Louis and Miriam Obendorf, Charles Cecil Black, and Olin H.
Schamel. Matt was a 1996 graduate of South Ripley High School and a graduate of
Full Sail with a degree in Recording Arts Technology.
He was the afternoon DJ at WORX in
Madison and was the varsity soccer coach at South Ripley High School since 2003.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Olean and enjoyed music, time
with his kids, coaching soccer, Cincinnati Reds baseball, and IU basketball.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 8
at 11am at St. Paul's
Lutheran Church in Olean with Pastor James Culver officiating. Burial will be in
the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 3pm to 8pm at the
Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10am until time of
services Monday at the church. Memorials may be given to Matt's Mission or Brown
Cancer Research Center
in care
of the funeral home.
