Mattie Raper

Mattie Raper, 93, of Versailles passed away Saturday, February 26, 2011 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. She was born at Watertown, Tennessee on May 22, 1918 the daughter of Jasper and Attie Taylor Midgett. She was married to Norman Raper and he preceded her in death on May 13, 1987. Survivors include two sons Herbert Raper and Ronald (Debbie) Raper both of Versailles. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Hugh, J.T., Robert, Wheeler, and Sherman Midgett, and her sisters Bertha Kirby, Francis Doyle, and her twin sister Hattie Pack. Mrs. Raper was a homemaker and assisted her husband and sons with their farm. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 2 at 1pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor James Culver of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Olean officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6pm to 8pm. Memorials may be given to the Cliff Hill Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
