Melinda A. Thompson, 40, of Versailles passed away Wednesday, April 09, 2003 at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born at Madison on November 17, 1962, the daughter of Robert E. and Esther Wilson Smith. She was married to Kevin Thompson on May 22, 1982 and he survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Mandy Thompson, a freshman at Ball State, and Amber Thompson at home; her parents, Robert E. and Esther Smith of Versailles, her father and mother-in-law, Everett and Melba Thompson of Versailles, five brothers, Lloyd, Eddie, and Farron Smith of Versailles, John Smith of Bloomington, and Randy Smith of Batesville; one sister Diane Harding of North Vernon; her maternal grandmother Virginia Wilson Powers of Dillsboro. Mrs. Thompson along with her husband owned and operated the Country Chicken Restaurant in Dillsboro. She was a 1981 graduate of South Ripley High School and a member of the Tanglewood Baptist Church. Visitation will be Friday, April from 4pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 12 at 11am at the Tanglewood Baptist Church with Rev. Becky Pohle officiating. Burial will be in the Tanglewood Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the donors choice.
