Meta Thieman, 95, of Cross Plains passed away Saturday, July 16, 2011 at the Ripley Crossing Health Center in Milan. She was born in Cross Plains, Indiana on March 24, 1916 the daughter of John and Alma Steingruber Schwanholt. She was married to Howard Thieman on November 21, 1936 and he preceded her in death on May 21, 1997. Other survivors include two daughters; Marilyn (James) Pennington of Canaan, Genevieve (Louis) DeBurger of Cross Plains, grandchildren; Debbie (Ron) Raper, Karen DeBurger, Chris (Melissa) Lochard, Laura Freeman, Becky (Benny) Mohr, and Andrew Lochard, great grandchildren; Brandi and Vanessa Hite, Joseph and Lakota Mohr, one brother Victor Schwanholt and one sister in law, Mary Ellen Thieman. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers; Edward and Walter. Mrs. Thieman was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Olean and had taught Sunday school for 26 years, member of the Martha's Circle, Olean Willing Workers Homemakers Club and a Bible School Teacher. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 19, 2011 at 11am at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Randy Thieman officiating. Burial will be in the St. Peter's Cemetery in Olean. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5pm to 7pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorials may be given to the Friendship Fire Department or the Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
