Mildred Kamman, 94, of Friendship passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Ross Manor in Dillsboro. She was born near Cross Plains on August 25, 1919 the daughter of George and Mary Hoffmeyer Acre. She was married to Eldred Kamman in April of 1940 and he preceded her in death on July 19, 1978. Survivors include two sons Glen Kamman of Friendship and Keith (Susie) Kamman of Conroe, Texas; one daughter Carol Steele of Fishers; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Ora Alsop of Cross Plains. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her son-in-law Ralph Steele, her sister Hazel Wolsterman, and her brother Russell Acre. Mrs. Kamman was a 1937 graduate of Versailles High School. She served as postmaster for the Friendship Post Office for 33 years and along with her husband owned and operated Kamman's Grocery in Friendship from 1958 to 1982. Mildred was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Dewberry for over 70 years. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 6 at 11am at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Dewberry with Rev. Richard Wilkie officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5pm to 8pm and will also be held at the church. Memorials may be given to St. Pauls Lutheran Church or the Friendship Fire Department in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.
