Mildred Newhart,
95, of Osgood
passed away Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Ripley Crossing in Milan.
She was born near Dabney on December 6, 1915 the daughter of Guy and Katherine
Fletcher Smith. She was married to Eldon Newhart on June 30, 1934 and he
preceded her in death on October 28, 1985. Survivors include one daughter Pat
(Wayne) Asche of Versailles; two grandchildren Rick (Karen) Turner of Beaver
Creek, Ohio and Mandy (Matt) Collins of Osgood;
three great-grandchildren and one
step-great-great grandson; two sisters Ethel Anderson of Milan and Florence
McAlister of Lawrenceburg: several nieces and nephews including Gary Anderson of
Milan. Mrs. Newhart was also preceded in death by her parents, her son Eldon,
and her brother Ernest Smith. Mildred was a 78 year member of the Dabney Baptist
Church and attended the Dabney School. She was a homemaker and served as a
volunteer at Buckeye Village in Osgood where she was a former resident. Funeral
services will be held Sunday, January 9
at 3pm at the
Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Bro. Irvin Hart and Rev.
Charles Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Greendale Cemetery at Osgood.
Visitation will be Sunday from 1pm until time of services. Memorials may be
given to the Dabney Baptist Church or the Greendale Cemetery in care of the
funeral home.
