Naomi L. Braley, 80, of Indianapolis passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2003 at the St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born in the Tanglewood community near Versailles on July 26, 1923 the daughter of Wilcy and Bernice McMartin Braley. She was a 1941 graduate of Versailles High School and a 1948 graduate of the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Indianapolis. She received her Bachelors degree in Nursing Education in 1965 from Indiana University and her Masters degree in 1973 from Butler University in Public Health. She had worked as an Industrial Nurse for International Harvester in Indianapolis for 29 years. She was past president of the Indiana Industrial Nurses Association and a past director of the American Association of Industrial Nurses. She was a member of the Tanglewood Baptist Church and a 61-year member and past Matron of the Versailles Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her brothers, Charles William Braley of Indianapolis, Harold Braley of Madison, and Frank Braley of Versailles; one sister Dorothy Jeffries of Indianapolis along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Robert Braley.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 23 at 1pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Carter Corbey of the Versailles Southern Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Tanglewood Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 22 from 5pm to 7pm. Memorials may be given to the Tanglewood Baptist Church. Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles is in charge of arrangements.
