Nellie M. Pollard, 99, of Versailles passed away Saturday, March 29, 2014 at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. She was born in Shelbyville, Kentucky on November 12, 1914 the daughter of William Madison and Mary Elizabeth Morris Hall. She was married to Forest Elmer Pollard on December 24, 1932 and he preceded her in death on October 1, 1987. Survivors include three sons Elmer Lee Pollard of Mooresville, Phillip (Jan) Pollard of Bloomburg, Colorado, and Maurice (Mary Alice) Pollard of Waynesville, Ohio; one daughter Edna "Polly" (Donald) Hunger of Versailles; sons-in-law Ray Miller of Burnside, Kentucky, and Russell Knowlton of Osgood; 21 grandchildren 37 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her daughters Elaine Miller and Janet Knowlton, daughter-in-law Patty Pollard, grandchildren Angie Hoskins, Patrick Pollard, and Betty Lou Pollard, great-grandson Little Pennington, brothers Jerry, Hart, Luther, and Chris Hall, and her sisters Tempie Yancey, Vergie Pollard, Billie James, and Hattie Hall. Mrs. Pollard was a homemaker and a member of the Ripley County Red Hatters and the Do-A-Lot Home Economics Club. Nell was also a 45 year member of the Versailles Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 1 at 12pm at the Versailles Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Cantrell officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Visitation will also be on Tuesday from 10am until time of services at the church. Memorials may be given to the Cliff Hill Cemetery or the Angie Hoskins Memorial Fund in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home.
