Nettie J. Grigsby, 84, of Versailles passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Thornton Terrace in Hanover. She was born near New Marion on June 25, 1928 the daughter of Rufus and Lilla Brown Myers. She was married to Herbert Grigsby on February 27, 1951 and he preceded her in death on November 1, 2005. Survivors include three daughters Onita (Daniel) Stephan of Madison, Valerie (Robert) Miller of Hanover, and Debbie (Robert) Harting of Versailles; grandchildren Karrie (Scott) Miller of Hanover, Tara (Ben) McKay and Damon (Mary) Stephan both of Madison, Andrea (Kevin) Sanders of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, Amanda (Jim) Edmonson of Vincennes, and Ashli (Eric) Monroe of Sullivan; 5 great-grandchildren; one sister Rose (David) Burress of New Marion. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Tommy, grandson Danny Jo Stephan, her brothers Russell, David, and Charles Myers, and her sisters Mabel Sexton, Leah Swinney, Betty Kieffer, and Mary Jo Lauber. Mrs. Grigsby was a 1946 graduate of New Marion High School and retired in 1978 after 32 years with Seagrams. Nettie was a member of the New Marion Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 3 at 10:30am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with her son-in-law Rev. Robert Harting officiating. Burial will be in the New Marion Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5pm to 8pm. Memorials may be given to the New Marion Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
