**Norman G. Young**, 74, of Osgood passed away Friday, November 9, 2007 at the Columbus Regional Hospital. He was born near Napoleon on May 24, 1933 the son of George and Pearl Drescher Young. He was married to Marita Brancamp on June 20, 1959 and she survives. Other survivors include one daughter Robin Renee Miller and her husband Kevin of Greensburg; one grandson Blake Norman Miller; three brothers, Sylvester Young and Lester Young both of Napoleon and Delbert Young of New Mexico; one sister Ida Grow of Napoleon. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Alvin, Earl, Roy, Harry, and Walter Young, and his sisters Sadie Schmidt, Esther Barnard, and Alice Bultman. Mr. Young was an Army veteran of the Korea War where he served in the 53 Infantry. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and was qualified as a sharpshooter. He was a farmer and was employed with Comer Buildings. Mr. Young had formerly served as a Pee Wee baseball coach at Jac-Cen-Del, was a former member of the Ripley County Fair Board, and was currently superintendent of the swine barn at the Ripley County fairgrounds. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 13 at 11am at St. John's Lutheran Church in Napoleon with Pastor Gary Groth officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10am until time of services Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be given to a scholarship in Mr. Young's name in care of the funeral home.
