Oans Chavis Miller, 81, of Versailles passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at the Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison. He was born in Magoffin County, Kentucky on January 4, 1931 the son of McCoy and Thelma Keeton Miller. He was married to Bonnie Gevedon on July 14, 1956 and she survives. Other survivors include five sons Clinton Chavis (Christina), Ralph Oans (Jennifer), Rondall Gary, Randall Lee (Tammy), and Anthony Dwayne (Sharon) Miller all of Versailles; one daughter Vonda Sue (Larry) Miller of Osgood; grandchildren Matthew (Bridget), Travis, Baili, and Maggie Miller all of Osgood, Brent (Brandy) Miller of Canaan, and Patrick (Sarah), Gereod, Andrea, Alex, and Kendall Miller all of Versailles; great-grandchildren Aaden, Clay, Brantley, and Madelyn Miller; four brothers Dean (Evelyn) and Charles (Ann) Miller both of Osgood, and Johnnie (Donna) and Grover (Cathy) Miller both of Versailles; four sisters Reva Mullins, Helen (Gene) Bauman, and Susan (Joe) Owens all of Osgood, and Janet (Ralph) Thompson of North Vernon. He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Mariah Miller, his sister Opal Smith, and brothers Henry Clay Miller and Rondal Gray Miller. Mr. Miller retired in 2001 after 28 years with Rose Acres in North Vernon. He had also been employed with the Halcomb Home Center in Versailles, Thayer's Hatchery in Osgood, and BCA in Greensburg and in his spare time enjoyed hunting. Chavis was a 45 year member of the Cedar Creek Community Church near Osgood. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 9 at 11am at the Cedar Creek Community Church with Rev. Garland Rudd officiating. Burial will be in the Miller Family Cemetery near Osgood. Visitation will be Thursday from 4pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and also from 10am until time of services Friday at the church. Memorials may be given to the Cedar Creek Church or the Miller Family Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
