Omer Powers

Omer Powers, 71, of Holton passed away Sunday, October 19, 2008 at his home. He was born at Rodney in Decatur County on May 14, 1937 the son of John and Marjorie Giddings Powers. He was married to Judy Cole on October 5, 1979 and she survives. Other survivors include three sons, Richard Powers and Melvin (Brittany) Powers both of Lexington, Tennessee, and Thomas (Penny) Powers of Westport; three daughters, Marjorie (Sug) Reeves, Michelle Powers, and Sara (Armando) Martinez all of Lexington, Tennessee; 10 grandchildren, several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his mother-in-law Mrs. Ruth Cole of Holton; two sisters, Bertha (Donnie) Dean and Ruth Ann Moore both of Greensburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, his children Janie and Paul, and his brothers Lester and Russell Powers. Mr. Powers was employed with Ames True-Temper of North Vernon for 37 years. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 23 at 2pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial will be in the Greendale Cemetery at Osgood. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5pm to 8pm. Memorials may be given to the donor's choice.
