Opal Hamilton, 97, of Rexville passed away Monday, June 8, 2009 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. She was born at Brooksburg on June 15, 1911 the daughter of Harry and Carrie Bliton Christman. She was married to Thomas Hamilton on July 12, 1928 and he preceded her in death on June 7, 1977. Survivors include one daughter Jane Hance of Rexville; one son David (Donna) Hamilton of Rexville; 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Roscoe Christman, her sister Ruth Meisberger, and her son-in-law John Hance. Mrs. Hamilton had worked as a nurses aide at Kings Daughters Hospital and also at the Silver Bell Nursing Home. Along with her husband, she had also owned and operated Hamilton's Grocery in Rexville. She was a member of the Calvary Wesleyan Church in Madison. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 12 at 10:30am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Wayne Mahoney of Calvary Wesleyan officiating. Burial will be in the Grandview Memorial Garden at Madison. Visitation will be Thursday from 5pm to 8pm. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Calvary Wesleyan Church in care of the funeral home.
