Patricia Ann Gecks

Patricia Ann Gecks, 83, of Delaware passed away at 4:16 a.m., Sunday, July 21, 2024 at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. She was born in Cincinnati on February 9, 1941, the daughter of Martin and Ramona Burg Schmidt. She was married to Ronald Gecks on November 8, 1958 and he survives. Other survivors include two daughters Tina (Nick) Eckstein of Osgood and Rhonda (Gary) Tunny of Batesville; four grandchildren Stefanie Crawford (Terry) of Houston, Texas, Sara (Michael) Berger of St. Paul, Joshua (Desiree) Tunny of Indianapolis, and Molly (Warren) Struewing of Batesville; 7 great-grandchildren; two sisters Cheri (Bill) Maurer and Vanessa Schmidt both of Cincinnati. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Jerome, and her brothers Michael and Jerome Schmidt. Mrs. Gecks attended Seton High School in Cincinnati and obtained her GED from Jac-Cen-Del High School. She attended the Southeastern Career Center where she studied cake decorating and cooking. She retired after 25 years working as a QMA and CNA for the Sisters of St. Frances at Oldenburg while also being a mom and homemaker. Mrs. Gecks enjoyed tending to her flowers, reading, and puzzles. She had also done several wedding cakes for couples in the community. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, July 24 at the Greendale Cemetery in Osgood with Pastor Doug Brougher of the Smyrna Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will also be on Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorials may be given to the Ripley County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
