Phyllis E. West

Phyllis E. West, 78, of Cross Plains passed away Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Greenwood Village South in Greenwood. She was born near Olean on March 8, 1934 the daughter of Howard and Hilda Lubbe Niles. She was married to Dale West on June 6, 1953 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Olean and he preceded her in death on January 15, 1998. Survivors include one son David (Margie) West of Milan; one daughter Donna (Brian) Chatham of Greenwood; grandchildren Blake, Whitney, and Zachary West, and Abby, Emily, and Carter Chatham; two brothers Bob (Jane) Niles of Columbus and Arthur (Janie) Niles of St. Paul; one sister Annita Zver of Addison, Illinois. She was also preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. West was a 1953 graduate of Cross Plains High School. For over 20 years she was the Meal Site Manager and Activities Director for the Area 12 Council on Aging at the Versailles Senior Center. Phyllis was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Dewberry where she played the organ and participated in the Ladies Aid Society. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 1 at 2pm at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Pastor Garrett Wickert officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 12pm until time of services at the church. Memorials may be given to the church or cemetery in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home.
