Rachel M. Ward

Rachel M. Ward, 74, of Versailles passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at her home. She was born near Bedford, Kentucky on August 11, 1934 the daughter of William and Leona Wingham McCutchen. She was married to John Ward on April 10, 1955 and he preceded her in death on August 2, 1993. Survivors include two sons, David (Amy) Ward of Clermont and Kevin (Patty) Ward of Lititz, Pennsylvania; one daughter Denise (Dan) Corbin of North Vernon; grandchildren Daniel Corbin II, Dena Monday, and John Ward; great-grandchildren Jonathan and Taylor Monday; one brother Ira McCutcheon of Hanover. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and her sister Audrey Clements. Mrs. Ward was a 1952 graduate of Cross Plains High School and a graduate of the Miller Business College in Cincinnati. She was a former employee of the Longini Shoe Factory in Madison, Grandview Memorial Garden at Madison, and the Jefferson Proving Ground. She was a member of the Shelby Christian Church. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family with Ministers Randy Thieman and Dan Corbin officiating. Burial will be in the Grandview Memorial Garden. Visitation will be Friday from 5pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Shelby Christian Church in care of the funeral home.
