Ralph F. Smith, 67, of Ingalls, Indiana passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at St. John's Medical Center in Anderson. He was born near Dillsboro on October 31, 1941 the son of Ralph A. and Cozzie Baker Smith. He was married to Martha J. Lovins on March 16, 1960 and she survives. Other survivors include two sons Robert (Tina) Smith of London, Ohio and Rick (Margaret) Smith of Ingalls; son-in-law Randy Buhrmester of Needham; 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Grace Snelling of Pendleton and Martha Clark of Dillsboro. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Michelle Buhrmester, grandson Richard Johns, and his sister Thelma Dresselhaus. Mr. Smith was a 10 year veteran of the United States Marines. He served two tours and five campaigns of duty in Vietnam. He was a self-employed truck driver for 33 years acting as owner and operator. He was a life member of the Pendleton Amvets, a life member of the Marysville, Ohio VFW, a member of the Noblesville American Legion, the Mt. Carmel Masonic Lodge in Richwood, Ohio, and the Bear Creek Baptist Church in Friendship, Indiana. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Sherman Hughes officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 11am until time of services. Burial will be in the New Marion Cemetery with full military honors.
