Reta Demaree

Reta Demaree, 69, of Rexville passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at her residence. She was born at Benham on April 5, 1936 the daughter of Basil and Eva Welch Steele. She was married to Virgil Demaree on January 15, 1954 and he survives. Other survivors include two sons, Carl Demaree and his wife Sandy of Madison, Robin Demaree and his wife Missy of Canaan; one daughter Evie Sanders and her husband Mike of Versailles; 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, and 5 step-great-grandchildren; two brothers Dale Steele of Fountaintown and Arthur Steele of Lawrenceburg; two sisters Gladys Hayes of Benham and JoAnn Brinson of Versailles. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Albert and Russell Steele. Mrs. Demaree was a 1953 graduate of Versailles High School. She had been employed with the Delaney Wood Heel Factory in Versailles and also with US Shoe in Osgood. She had also worked as a beautician in Madison and Versailles. She was a member of the Versailles Church of Christ and attended the Concord Wesleyan Church. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 28 at 1pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Troy Whitham of the Concord Wesleyan Church officiating. Burial will be in the Grandview Memorial Garden near Madison. Visitation will be Thursday from 5pm to 8pm. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or the Concord Wesleyan Church in care of the funeral home. Online condolences are available.
