Rita F. Castle

Rita F. Castle, 87, of Cross Plains passed away at 7:30am, Saturday, December 12, 2020 at her home. She was born near Stacy Fork in Morgan County, Kentucky on April 14, 1933 the daughter of Harlan and Sylvina Adams Williams. She was married to Willie Castle on May 9, 1953 and he preceded her in death on February 1, 2012. Survivors include five daughters Barbara Mason of London, Kentucky, Deborah Brock of Greensburg, Sandy (Kevin) Hensley of Versailles, and Angie Abrams and Lori Castle both of Cross Plains; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; one sister Sue Weeks of Evert, Texas. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mary Harris, and her grandson Roy Bruce Sutton. Rita spent her childhood in Cedar Grove, Indiana and her family later moved to Versailles where she attended high school. After her marriage she and Willie managed a dairy farm in the Laughery Valley south of Versailles. Rita did the milking, raised a large garden, and tended to her daughters as Willie worked off the farm. Rita enjoyed cooking and was a member of the Cross Plains Church of Christ. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, December at 2pm at the Salem Cemetery south of Cross Plains with Pastor Craig Smith officiating. Memorials may be given to St Jude's or the Salem Cemetery in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.
