Robert W. Kimball, 88, of Holton passed away Sunday, August 22, 2010 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. He was born at Holton on December 16, 1921 the son of Fred and Rachel Black Kimball. He was married to Dorothy Hammon on February 3, 1946 and she survives. Other survivors include one daughter Barbara (Frank) Ferraro of Coraopolis, Pennsylvania; four sons David (Pam) of Fort Wayne, Barry (Darlene) of Bethel, Ohio, Jerry of Michigan, and Robert S. (Sherlyn) of Greensburg; 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Margie Smith, and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Kimball was an Army veteran of WWII where he served with the Merchant Marines as a watertender on the USS Thomas H. Barry and the USS Ferdinand Westdahl. He was a member of the Dabney Baptist Church, the Holton Masonic Lodge, the Versailles-Osgood chapter of the Eastern Star, Versailles American Legion, and the Osgood Rebekah and Odd Fellows lodge. Mr. Kimball worked for Cummins for 31 years retiring in 1981. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 25 at 11am at the Dabney Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Cole officiating. Burial will be in the Dabney Cemetery with military rites by the Versailles American Legion. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Masonic services by the Holton Masonic Lodge at 8pm. Memorials may be given to the Dabney Baptist Church or the Dabney Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
