Roger L. Finney, 71, of Holton passed away Saturday, February 12, 2011 at the Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg. He was born at Covington, Kentucky on June 28, 1939 the son of Tom and Dorothy Quick Finney. He was married to Cathy Kuhlmeier on March 26, 1983 and she survives. Other survivors include one daughter Ellen Finney (David) Pickett of Pendleton; two sons John (Teresa) Finney of Indianapolis and Tom (Mary) Finney of Holton; four grandchildren Samuel and Joseph Pickett and John B. and Mattie Finney. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Benjamin and Charles Finney. Mr. Finney was a 1957 graduate of Simon Kenton High School in Independence, Kentucky and attended the American Institute of Banking in Cincinnati. He served in the US Army from 1961 to 1967, honorably discharged as a Specialist E5. He served as Director of Purchasing for the Provident Bank in Cincinnati, before taking a position in 1969 at Peoples National Bank in Lawrenceburg. He retired from banking in 1993 as Senior Vice-President, Branch Administrator, and member of the Board of Directors. From 1994 to 2003 Mr. Finney operated his own financial planning office in Aurora, providing services as a registered investment advisor. Roger was a charter member of the Dearborn County Chamber of Commerce, a Kentucky Colonel, and had served on the South Ripley School Board. He was a lifelong member of the Banklick Christian Church in Independence, Kentucky and had attended the Tanglewood Baptist Church for over 40 years serving as a deacon, choir director, Sunday School Superintendent and teacher. In his retirement, Mr. Finney enjoyed spending time on his farm with his family. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 16 at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Russell Stephens officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4pm to 8pm. Memorials may be given to the Tanglewood Baptist Church or the Hansen Center in care of the funeral home.
