**Ronald L. Shelton**, 79, of Versailles
passed away at 8:50 p.m.,
Friday, January 3, 2025 at the Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison. He was born
in Charlottesville, Virginia on October 20, 1945, the son of Paul Leroy and
Geraldine Fields Shelton. He was married to Shirley Watts on June 9, 1967 and
his wife of 57 years survives. Other survivors include one son Troy Shelton of
Milan; one daughter Starla Shelton of Dillsboro; 5 grandchildren Shawn Shelton,
Cory Hunter and fiancé Brianna Wilson, and Christopher (Kayla), Ashley, and
Eric Hunter; 9 great-grandchildren; one brother Dennis (Rhonda) Shelton of
Dillsboro; one sister Deborah Smock of Rising Sun. He was preceded in death by
his parents and two great grandchildren. Mr. Shelton retired from KB Foods in
Greensburg. He had also been employed with Hillenbrand Industries in
Batesville, Valeo in Greensburg, and with the Halcomb Home Center in
Versailles. Ron enjoyed watching various sports on TV and was an avid fisherman
and hunter. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Milan. Funeral
services will be held on Thursday, January 9 at 11 a.m. at the
Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Harris Long
officiating. Burial will be in the Oakdale Cemetery in Dillsboro. Visitation
will be on Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Memorials may be given to the First
Baptist Church in Milan or the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral
home.
