Ruby F. Swinney

Ruby F. Swinney, 83, of New Marion passed away Thursday, May 27, 2010 at her home. She was born near New Marion on March 15, 1927 the daughter of Paul and Mary Sedam May. She was married to Clifford Swinney on May 1, 1946 and he preceded her in death on April 12, 1989. Survivors include one daughter Rita (Robert) Dobbs of Pulaski, Tennessee; three sons William D. (Anna Kay) Swinney of New Marion, Eddie (Linda) Swinney of LaPlatta, Missouri, and Larry (Pamela) Swinney of Pulaski, Tennessee; 5 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one brother Martin May of Hamilton, Ohio. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brother Albert May and her sister Dorothy Israel. Mrs. Swinney was a 1946 graduate of New Marion High School. She was a homemaker and had been employed with US Shoe in Osgood. She had also done wallpapering and was a member of the New Marion Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 1 at the New Marion Baptist Church with Rev. Karen Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in the New Marion Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10am until time of services Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be given to the church or cemetery in care of the funeral home.
