Ruth P. Cole, 88, of Holton passed away Monday, January 3, 2011 at the Silver Memoires Health Center at Versailles. She was born near Osgood on March 11, 1922 the daughter of Albert and Clara Marie Kelley Hardebeck. She was married to Lawrence Cole on December 24, 1938 and he preceded her in death on February 1, 1982. Survivors include one son Lanny (Carolyn) Cole of Rexville; two daughters Rita (Philip) Meisberger of New Marion and Judy Powers and her companion Doug Harper of Holton; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and 6 step-grandchildren; one brother Leo Hardebeck of Napoleon; one sister Diana (George) Shelton of Norfolk, Arkansas. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her son Leon Cole, daughter-in-law JoAnn Cole, son-in-law Omer Powers, great-granddaughter Kayleigh Meister, her brothers Roy (Rabbit), Charles, and Danny Hardebeck, and her sisters Colleen Elston, Vivian Sutton, Hope Hardebeck, and Jeanette Kluemper. Mrs. Cole was a member of the New Marion Baptist Church. She was a former employee of US Shoe at Osgood and was a homemaker. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 6 at 2pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Karen Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in the Greendale Cemetery at Osgood. Visitation will be Thursday from 12pm until time of services. Memorials may be given to the Greendale Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
