Ruth C. Gloyd, 98, of Osgood passed away Saturday, May 24, 2008 at the Ripley Crossing in Milan. She was born near Batesville on January 10, 1910 the daughter of Charles and Anna Buchold Baylor. She was married to Oran Gloyd on November 21, 1926 and he preceded her in death on January 16, 2001. Survivors include two sons, Bill (Sandra) Gloyd of Osgood and Larry (Del) Gloyd of Rockford, Illinois; one daughter Marjorie Crum of Milan; one brother Chester (Ruth) Baylor of Milan; 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her granddaughter Lisa Gloyd, her son-in-law Norman Crum, her sisters Marie LeGrand, Elsie Wysong, Opal Booher, and Martha Felix, and her brothers Leo and Charles Baylor.
Mrs. Gloyd owned and operated along with her husband Gloyd's Hardware in Osgood for several years and was also a homemaker. She was a 63-year member of the First Baptist Church in Osgood and was a 55-year member of the Osgood and Versailles Chapter of the Eastern Star.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 28 at 11am at the First Baptist Church in Osgood with Rev. Don Buck officiating. Burial will be in the Greendale Cemetery at Osgood. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10am until time of services Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be given to the Osgood First Baptist Church or the Greendale Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
